Views: A look back at some of our most memorable milestones over the past year

It’s been another difficult 12 months, particularly for those of us in the later life sector. Despite this, 2021 has still provided plenty to celebrate for SOLLA and our expert members. Working together we’ve again led the way in creating positive impact in the later life financial advice industry, both for consumers and professionals. Here, we take a look at our top five highlights.

SOLLA Later Life Lending 350px1. Launching LLLAS to improve the standard of equity release advice

Well-rounded financial advice on equity release shouldn’t be too much for a consumer to ask, especially as interest continues to rise. That’s why we created the Later Life Lending Advice Standard.

Since its launch in early in 2021, uptake has been brilliant, with over 100 equity release advisers already applying to attain the standard.

If you want to join the growing number of later life lending advisers marking themselves out to consumers and fellow professionals as true specialists in equity release, find out more about the standard here:

Sebastian Elwell 350 px2. Seb Elwell adds his expertise to the SOLLA Advisory Board

Seb Elwell is among the most highly qualified independent financial advisers in the country, so we were delighted when he joined the SOLLA Advisory Board in March. As a SOLLA Accredited Adviser and later life advice specialist, his input has been invaluable in helping us guide and support our members.

Tish Hanifan cropped 23. Tish’s PR work keeps SOLLA and its members in the spotlight

SOLLA Founder and Joint Chair Tish Hanifan has been as busy as ever spreading the word about SOLLA and the vital work SOLLA Members do. She’s featured regularly in leading industry title FTAdviser, discussing among other things:

  • Financial planning
  • Long-term care
  • Social care reform

Tish’s also made key contributions to important industry events, including the Intelligent Partnership Business Relief Update, Later Life Lending Symposium and Money Marketing Retirement Summit.

Jane Bligh4. Awards season success for SOLLA Members

With awards season in full swing last month, SOLLA Members proved why they’re so highly regarded, picking up a number of prestigious titles. This included Jane Bligh, highly recommended in the Up Close and Personal category of the inaugural Just Vulnerable Customer Awards.

5000 training bookings5. We surpassed 5,000 bookings for our online training

We recently passed this amazing milestone, helped in no small part by the 250 delegates who attended Tish’s fully booked social care reform webinar in November. Our online training helps later life advice professionals build their knowledge, skills and networks, so it’s fantastic our members and other industry professionals find these resources so worthwhile.

Here’s to another 12 months with just as much to celebrate! In the meantime, Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
